Machan: Call for Support

To bring the community together and raise the funds needed, Korail Youth Volunteers and Paraa are organizing a special fundraising dinner. It’ll be an evening filled with amazing food, powerful performances, beautiful art, and a few unexpected surprises. Most importantly, it’s a chance to experience the culture and warmth of Korail up close.

Just behind the towering buildings of Banani, Gulshan, and Mohakhali lives a community that quietly keeps Dhaka going. Korail, an informal settlement, has been home to tens of thousands of people for years. Many came from different parts of the country, especially from flood-prone coastal areas, in search of safety and opportunity. They bring with them not only their labor and resilience but also a rich mix of culture, stories, and dreams that breathe life into the city every single day.

In 2024, something beautiful was born in the heart of Korail. Machan, community-led cultural center, was built on the Ershad School Field. It’s a space where people gather, create, share, and celebrate everything that makes this community so vibrant and full of life. Machan is helping to tell a story that often goes unheard — the story of Korail’s creativity, diversity, and spirit.

A passionate group of young people from Korail, supported by Paraa, is running Machan with love and dedication. They’re dreaming big, but dreams need resources. That’s why we’re reaching out to people like you.
